anybody know where I can get a set of AMG skirts for relatively cheap for my clk w208..i dont mind even if its used as long as its in good condition


i kno the dealer would charge far too much

on that note, say if i found a set...how hard would it be to actually paint it and fit it ones self - or is it just better off to give it to a mechanic who charges something like £350!!!

Fairly easy to fit SEE HERE

I sprayed mine with spray paint from Halfords, they are an easy shape to spray & if you take your time, eg a week you can save a packet. That said only a bodyshop can get them looking perfect though!

I reckon you will be looking at around £60 per skirt (cash in hand)

KillerHertz...i've been charged a grand total of £350 + vat for painting and fitting side skirts - do you know anybody that can paint the skirts for 60 a piece?

Paint 'em yourself, just take your time and do it in the summer ....

Wet the floor down so no dust blows around and take it nice and easy , don't be afraid of the paint or it will dry patchy ...

Prime, rub down , spray , lacquer ...

At the end of the day , they hang under the car , they aren't in line of sight .... you could do it yourself for under £30 ....

I sprayed my wheels myself , they came out ok , the secret is patience ....

Did you tell him its cash in hand? as some bodyshops seem to add extra due to the insurance compianes footing most of the bills.

yeh tru....maybe im, jus a lil scared of doing it myself...but i might try it out...what can i do if it goes wrong - anyway of taking off the paint?

Even if you screw it up , let it dry (properly) and flat it down with wet and dry .... You won't need to take all the paint off, just the top layer and any runs or sags ...

Please let me know if you manage to get hold of some amg side skirts i have been looking for a long time, they definitely are very rare but make all the difference to the car

As you're in Surrey, when you get a set, I'll give you a number for someone who does professional paintwork at a good rate. Doubt he'd charge £60 a side though.

As for the style, does it have to be AMG? There are other kits out there eg Reiger.

rieger is cool, but its a bit OTT for me...i found a brand new set of amg skirts for £246 including delievery and VAT. Thats probably the cheapest i will find.

I was thinking of putting a front spoiler and side skirts on - but its all deeming too expensive for a mere uni student like my self - if anybody has got second hand stuff for cheap i would probably bounce on the chance...

...when i get my next student loan that is ;-p

On the off chance anyoe is after a AMG rear bumper, drop me a PM. I have one from when I had my last CLK, the plan to fit the body kit didnt go ahead.

Just debating if I should get some AMG skirts and type 203 alloys, or px it for a c class panorama coupe

vindaloo - keep the clk!!!! go to www.partsgateway.co.uk and do a search there for amg skirts - they go through list of new and used parts from all over and try to find what your looking for - i am not going to buy them so they're definitely still available - they are brand new btw
