I managed to get the lower small collar off, and then got stuck. No obvious way to move/loosen the gearknob. Thanks!

May 24, 2005 #2 P Paul Grainger Active Member Joined Dec 15, 2002 Messages 372 Location UK Car SL55, Porsche 996 C2 convertible Once the lower collar is unscrewed, just pull the knob upwards. It can be a bit stiff but it will come off in your hand. Sounds a bit rude, but it works. Paul G

Still looks good. Better in the CLK than the SLK
