I found an unplugged cable under my drivers seat and was wondering what function this cable has. Tried to plug it ( the white connector) back in but socket is out of alignment and then wondered why it was unplugged and if I would get a error code if I plugged it in so started investigating what it was for.
Haven’t been able to identify it’s purpose so thought I would ask if anyone can help.

Hi,
Are referring to the white two pin socket to the right of the connector block? Have you got the cables and plug that should plug into it
If so are there actually wires on the other side of it?
There was system in the seats (at least in my CLS there was) in other markets called weight sensing so might just be an empty connector for this.

Yes, the plug is also shown in the photo and all pins and wires are there, just the plug will not go in because the socket has moved out of alignment with the frame.

If you can wait until later in the day, I'll go and look at mine.

Just a couple of ideas:
  • Are these original seats (has a previous owner retrofitted different seats for example)?
  • Are these memory seats? - Do you have heaters and/or fans in them?
  • Do you have the pneumatic support function?
Basically I'm just wondering if the plug is for an option that you don't have.

Original leather seats, not memory, manual adjustment but with heaters.
Don’t have pneumatic support. There is a similar plug on the passenger seat and it is plugged in. I have only had the car since June and also found a cable in the boot unplugged, when I plugged that one in the parking sensors started working again, no idea why it was unplugged!

Here is a pic of mine and there is no white plug. Mines has all the extras heated, cooled, memory seats etc etc.

Let me know if you need me to check anything or lose or provide more pics.

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions, still have not found out what function this cable controls. On review of the socket photo it appeared that it was slotted in from below. With this in mind I used a small screwdriver to try and lift it up, it moved easily, then fitted the plug back in. Nothing adverse has happened, no warning lights etc so all good!

Sorry, I did also mean to post a photo... but I left the SD card in my PC so the camera didn't save any of the images I thought I'd taken. :wallbash:
