W209 wiper stalk problem.

Hi, My wiper stalk on CLK240 has stopped working, no wash, no wiper on any setting. If I briefly indicate to to turn right I get 1 wipe!
Local mechanic has tried a second hand stalk, but wouldn't work at all. He spoke to Mercedes tech, who told him it's not repairable and you need a new virgin stalk from them that hasn't been coded, at a cost of £380 for the stalk. Does this seem right?

Seems a little unlikely. I’d have thought that a secondhand stalk could be coded to the car by someone with the STAR system. But I maybe wrong of course. I’d find a good specialist and ask for a second opinion.

Thanks, I thought that as well. Have heard about a fairly local ex Merc mechanic set up on his own, will try to contact him.
