W210 E36 Amg

Inferiority complex I guess ;)

Yep, W210 E36 would be rarer than a '55, but I guess most people prefer the V8 power.

Will

Were they £65 grand new ?

Was seriously considering one of these after being recommended one by a MB employee friend of mine, this was mainly because of lower cost maintenance to the other AMG cars as it uses parts from other models unlike the 55 or the 43, which use AMG items.
It might be the slowest, but at 276BHP it still no slouch

I wouldn't mind that number plate for my CLK55 - but no way is it worth £2000 on its own!

Well this isn't quite the correct, the 36 and the 55 engines are both made by AMG where as the 43 has its engine lifted from the S430 with a couple of tweaks.

True about not being all that quick, it's a fair bit quicker than the E320 but really it's a touch slow to wear an AMG badge. The w124 E36 however is no slouch.

Nope! The W210 was a cut price W124. The W210 E36 AMG was £54K new.

... it's a fair bit quicker than the E320...
Not any more

The W210 is quicker on paper but didn't really feel it because of the extra weight. The 3.6 engine, however, is lovely and smooth right up to the redline in a way that the 320 isn't.

Looks a nice car for the money when considering the low mileage and overall appearance.

Bolt two turbos on the 36 and see what happens

Advert says its a 'smooth V6'. Was obviously the first time the owner looked under the bonnet, then...

The compression is too high. Turboing the 320 was easier ;)

Just need a set of custom H section Con Rods. Although seems a lot of trouble when a e55 can be had for under £3k.

Find me an E55 for under £3k? Last i looked the rough ones were £3500ish and the good ones were £5k+
