I have a 99 W210 Est. Rear suspension has developed an annoying squeak. Bushes seem ok. If it is the self levelling shocks am I confronting big repair bill? Is there an alternative fix with traditional shocks/springs?

Probably the anti-roll bar bushes. When exactly does it do it.? try a squirt of silicon lube on each bush in turn.

I doubt it's the rams.

W210 Rear Suspension Squeak

The squeak is obvious around town, seems to stop under acceleration and at higher speeds ( maybe just can't hear it then ! ) Tried wd40 on everything but will retry with silicon lube..

Try looking at the rear lower arm outer bush. It needs a special tool to remove it.

I had the same problem on my W124 right hand rear recently. It squeaks when the suspension travels up and down. Went to the workshop to have it looked into.

The lower arm bush was changed. No more noise now. Didn't cost much to change either.
