W211 2008 - seat back does not lower

This is my first post to this forum. I could not get any advise at the MB forum in Finland. Hopefully someone in the UK has an idea to this. The passenger side (left) seat back will not lower, the switch in the trunk moves but has no effect/feel. So I can't lower the seat back. The right side switch works ok. Any idea how to work this out? Is the mechanism 100% mechanical or is there an electric switch to open the locking mechanism?

Hello, it may be different on yours but on my w204 it is all mechanical, i.e. A cable from the pull handle to the mechanism. If it is the same I would suggest the cable has popped out of one end or the other. Hope you get it sorted.

I have a workaround to lower the seat back. When I pull the opening handle on the trunk I pull the seat back simultaneously from the cabin side with back door open. I can just reach the trunk handle and the seat back when back door is open. The actual problem is still there, i.e. the seat back does not bounce (by a spring?) open from its position when the handle is pulled but luckily the locking mechanism still works.
