Doesn’t the bulb remain in the silver metal base . Check what a new D1s looks like
The black circular part just clips round the new one .

This was my saga

Will take wheel arch off over the weekend and sort thank you lads

It does , it’s part of the new bulb . I just looked at eBay .
Im pretty

Yup, new pack has the ignitiers attached, however there is no way to replace from the top, nearside maybe, but I think wheel and arch linner off is my best way to get access. If anyone here has a easier way do let me know, car is a w211 2007, bi xenon, main beam and h7 for the high beams, those should be easy enough to replace

I did them both from the top on my facelift W211
How did you get to the driver side with the abs pump in the way? Basically your kinda doing it blind. So just attach the black plastic and push in and clockwise, I can't see i side if there is a spring holding bulb, unless the plastic ring is the holder

I believe on the w212 arch liner removal is needed, but isn't anything on YouTube i could find for w211 for d1s bulbs

Managed to get in and do driver side blind, from top, wasn't easy, nearside has more room that wasn't a problem. I decided against doing the high beam ones, too cold out, at least i can see the road now at night. Was a nightmare on m6 with one headlight.
Thanks for all the advice guys, it's appreciated
