There are lots and lots of W211 COMAND units on eBay.

We've had lots of people asking us if we can repair/trade-in advise on these units!

Thats not to say they are all bad, I'm sure some must be okay.

Totally agree, folks MUST be very aware of the huge differences. There might be any number of 'ex' US units that have been replaced with the better optioned European version.

Going through the feedback comments, the guy sold same previously. Buyer was unhappy because there were no cables.

Imho seller's feedback is not good enough to be comfortable with paying out 600 quid.
