Hi all, I’m looking at buying a 2004 W211, it looks to be a good and well looked after car but the seller has said they replaced the battery recently after it had gone flat (they were out of the country for 6 weeks) and since then the stereo has been dead. They say they assume it’s probably just a fuse (which I find hard to believe someone would not bother to check for such a simple repair).

Does this sound like a probably outcome or is there something else known that could make it a good easy repair/nightmare expensive repair?
If it’s likely that it is a dead system are they replaceable with aftermarket units? I have a Sony Apple CarPlay unit from my old Jaguar I could fit if so.

I just don’t want to buy it and find that the command can’t be fixed or replaced aftermarket and requires an expensive replacement unit!

Apparently the part number for the stereo that’s fitted is A211 870 00 89 001

That unit used can be bought for £40 if it's goosed.

"Probably just a fuse" - We've all heard that before:D. Wouldn't put me off though.
