Okay so, about every 2 weeks, I get a message on my dash saying "Coolant, Visit Workshop!", but after restarting the car it goes and I don't see it for about another 2 weeks, then once again after a restart it'll go and it carries on like that. Has anyone had a similar issue and what could be the cause?

Also, not sure if this is a normal thing but today when I opened my coolant tank lid, all I saw was foamy bubbles on top. Is this normal for when the car has just been unstarted as I've checked my coolant level about 10 times before and never noticed any bubbling in there at all?

Not normal as far as I know, wonder if it's a head gasket, but no doubt a more expert member will advise

It seems there's only bubbles in the coolant tank when the coolant visit workshop error comes up..

The errors started coming up a lot more frequently as well now, like everyday basically.

I'd be looking closely at the water pump for a leak.
With the engine off and cooled down, have a feel under the pump for any moisture.

It happened to me couple of years ago and i ended up changing the coolant reservoir bottle. I had no foaming issue in the reservoir though it was just the annoying message (that you are getting now). Is the message on dash comes up when you start the car? A couple of weeks more and this message will be permanent on every start up. Get a used tank from ebay, (coolant sensor and reservoir cap can be used from your existing fitting).

Hope this helps.

But considering the bubbles are only there when the coolant visit workshop error comes up I'm guessing it won't just be a case of a new coolant reservoir bottle.

I think it is a leaking waterpump, I've booked it in for Monday to get the waterpump changed. Thanks, appreciate the help.

the specialists said that the water pump seemed fine... do you have any idea what else could be causing it?

Have you tested for exhaust gases within the coolant?

Does your coolant level stay the same? Do you need to top it up often?

It could be head gasket, heater matrix leak, leaking pipe in the oil cooler, weak expansion tank cap, leaking tank, leaking hose or joint. I would have thought that a "specialist" would have pressure tested the system to find the leak.

im pretty sure they said they checked the entire coolant system, and did not find any leaks. they did said they'll investigate further tomorrow though as they still have the car so..

When was the last time you change the coolant? Try changing the coolant reservoir.
