Just got my first Merc a few days ago. Beautiful to drive, but I have to say I'm a bit disappointed by a number of electrical glitches which are possibly inter-related?

When I test-drove I noticed the indicator LED on driver's mirror wasn't working. This was fixed when I picked up the car but has now malfunctioned again. Then the backlights on the dials come and go - sometimes a sharp slap turns them on again but they are usually off once more within a couple of minutes. Then today the dash clock stopped working:crazy:

Going back to dealer next week which will hopefully sort it out.... but please tell me this isn't sign of things to come?!

If it's got a folding mirror the loom has a weakness where the mirror swivels and can crack wires internally.

Cheers, I'll pass that on. Bought it from a Nissan franchise(!), so not sure whether their mechanics will know where to start looking!

I had numerous small glitches on my o3 e320 same as yours plus others, like SBC hold
For other reasons (car not used very much) I bought a CTECH charger & left it on for
a couple of days. What a difference this made, everything came to life. Even my satnav lady got a kick up her backside.Telling me to turn left or right before I made a
turn & not after. In fact all services seemed to work better. In my experiance it's often the basics to look for first. ie batt. fully charged. Hope it works for you.
The mirror problem could be a broken wire as suggested by DAVIDJPOWELL

Thanks for your suggestions. I know the battery was flat when I picked the car up, so that might explain the dash electrics. Going back tomorrow for them to take a look, so fingers crossed...
