W211 having lower suspension arms next week, anything else I should consider while they are doing that?

Hi, I’m new here.

My 09 w211 cdi failed it’s mot and requires 4 lower suspension arms (ball joints and bushes perished)

It’s also having new brake pipes.

So, would it be wise to get anything else done while they are doing those 2 jobs?

(It’s got 160000 on the clock btw)

The car probably needs a decent service (which my dad and I could possibly do a lot of)

What’s driveway doable (without specialist equipment)

Oil and filter (what oils best for this mileage e220 08plate)
Air filter
Cabin filter
(I’m presuming it will get new brake fluid when the pipes are replaced)
Diff oil?
Transmission oil looks more of a job for a garage

Anything else?

Hope you can help
Thanks

I would recommend four wheels alignment (or even full geometry) on a Hunter machine, after the work is done.

Also, your service items list is missing the fuel filter.

As for oil, I would opt for 0W-30 or 5W-30. The oil spec is MB229.5 if the car does not have a DPF, or MB229.52 if it does have one (and a 09 car should have a DPF).

229.52 oil, 6.5 litres.

You might consider an ATF service.

Our S211 (09 E220) has just popped a front spring, so I'm replacing both springs and dampers. I'll consider the rear later.

Welcome. 🙂👍

Thankyou.

it looked like an ATF change is a little more of a specialised job?

I’ve asked the garage to change the diff and transmission oil as I’m not sure it’s ever been changed. I’ll do the engine oil myself.

Any other service kind of jobs while it’s in (it’s done 165000)
