w211 mirror indicators et al!

have a problem with my offside mirror indicator, stopped working when the mirror folded in but was ok when it was halfway out! now getting worse and hardly working at all, but does sometimes so reasonably sure not the leds themselves. Also mirror adjustment not fully functioning, folds l + r but not up and dow so assume it is something to do with the connections! Have removed the 3 torx screws and taken mirror off but cant get into the assembly. Doing the usual search found several refs to removing a spring clip , but think this must refer to a C class as cant find a clip. Any of you helpfull guys any suggestions?

once you have the mirror body off unwrap some of the wiring. it age hardens and breaks when the mirrors get folded in and out.

yuk - cables broke!

Thanks for the help , managed to remove the cover eventually and after unwrapping the cable assembly discovered around 5 cables broke ,
no wonder things werent working properly. How to fix? could try rejoining by soldering and using heatshrink but best option is to replace the cable assembly as others look damaged too, problem is it seems the other end of the assembly goes behind the door card to a connector , not sure i fancy removing the card !

if they aren't too badly corroded and green then you can just solder them back together. if you need to trim them back too far to get some good wire solder some new wire in so they don't get pulled tight when the mirror gets folded in. might be worth checking the other mirror. the wires in that side are probably getting the same.
