W211 or W222

Hello all,

Would appreciate some help and suggestions.

I currently own a BMW 640D and wish to change car. Previously had an E Class and then a CLS so looking at S class now, Budget is around 30k. I am struggling to make my mind up though for the following reasons.

1. I use the car daily for school drop & pick. Is it practical to use such a big car for daily runs? (W222 is 11 inches longer and 3 inches wider than the 640D)
2. Any other reasons that it may not be a practical daily use car?
3. Think I can get a decent W222 for my budget, but is there any negatives with this one, is W211 better? I like both tbh
4. Variants in W222, anything specific to avoid or consider

I've just found the discussion and as the fortunate owner of a 2017 SWB W222 from new, I've no regrets - it's a wonderful car. The SWB version certainly helps with car parking spaces and doesn't stick out too much. I've not been in a W221 so can't compare.

I am Biased, But the W221, is a far better car than a W222 or W223 for that matter. Lots out there, but watch what you buy.
My Heinrich, is very low mileage, and i wouldn't sell him. the wide archs and the general body shape is beautiful. it had too be after the W220.
But, then length and size can be an issue. I never park him in a car park (Too Big), and living in deepest darkest Norfolk I don't need too.
Servicing, I take him to Derek Wells in Needham Market, a long way but they are very good independent specialists, and if you worry about costs, then don't think about any S Class. Prior to Him, I had a W204, C Class. but when you have an S Class theres no going back.

Yep, W221 is better than W222 and W223 (I am biased too)

I'm biased too and think, just on looks, the W222 is the best .
