mercedes W211
Hello everybody,

I have for now 6 years whith my Mercedes W211 it is diesel 220 (170hp) year 2008, the problem is that my car isn't any more new and when i push the car it has not any more the power as it was before. I went to the mechanist and he told me must be the Dpf,(particular Filter) in my country we don't have good diesel also we have not good network route also the air is dirty so we have to do a lot of oil change aswell as a lot of filter change. My quetion is : Is it possible to clean the Particular filter or is it possible to remove from the car ??

Thanks in advance.

My 2008 W211 E220Cdi doesn't have a DPF. It achieves EURO 4 standard without one. Are you certain yours has one - I bet it doesn't? You could have a look under the car to see for yourself.

My advice would be to find an independent garage with a Mercedes STAR diagnostic system and get the car hooked up for a diagnostic check. If you can't find such a garage, take it to the nearest Mercedes dealer and pay them the required king's ransom for a diagnostic check.

Your car may have a DPF as standard but it depends on when it was made. Or your car might have a DPF fitted as an optional extra but it's very unlikely.

I would suggest you first find out if your car has DPF. You can do this by simply ringing MB UK Customer Services (free phone number) and providing them with your reg/VIN number and they will let you know if a DPF is in your car.

If the DPF is causing the problem then it may show up in the STAR check, which will confirm that your car does have a DPF anyway.

You may have a dead lamda/O2 sensor.

Hi,

I am sure that my car has Particular filter !! This car is bought in Germany in its origin country, it is very strange but when i am in parking mode and i want to move back if the road is uphill the car in minimum regime it Issues an amount of black smoke !!! Has this any thing to do with the particular filter ?? generally no problem when i drive the car in the street even with kick down no black smoke !!! I have not tune up the car, i have change recently the O2 sensor, but not satisfy with the efficency of the car i know the power of this car very well and now it looks like the engine has no "breath" ! Also when the car want to change the gear it want more time to do this it is a NAG5 not 7G, the mechanist told me that the automatic gear box works perfectly but to check up for the particular filter. My car has like 132.000 km.

Thank you very much.

Get the codes read.
You can buy £10 code-readers on Flebay that'll show a good number of codes - but obviously nothing like the number a star computer will.
