Hello all,

First time writer (so go easy on me!), but I'm hoping to pick your collective brain.

I've a W212 (2012) with the Comand system which has developed a strange trait: the Comand buttons on both sides of the power/volume button have changed function over night! The system still works (Nav, radio, phone etc) but pressing the Nav button changes the screen to the radio, pressing Radio brings on the Tel etc (you get the picture....). Once on the right screen (by stabbing random buttons!), the function can be controlled normally by the rotary controller.

I've tried a soft reset (by removing fuse #26 etc) but this has not fixed the issue.

Any ideas - all very gratefully received.

Hello and welcome to you, i am sure someone who can help you will be along shortly.

Looking at your location in Guildford means you are not far away from Lightwater, where Forum sponsors comandonline are.
As above there is a good chance either Alfie or Richard will respond in good time.
How long did you remove the fuse for, a few seconds?
Might need to be removed for longer than that and have you checked in case there may be another fuse in the supply circuit?

Thank you for your responses....

I read somewhere online that you need to remove the fuses for at least 10 mins, so left them out for at least 30 mins (#26 and #28) but in replacing them, it made no difference. I did wonder if I needed to lock/unlock/switch on ignition or the like, so not sure if I followed the right procedure?

UPDATE - Car seems to have magically repaired the command system after being parked up for a few days! curious!

Shame it hasn't managed to heal its own brake pads which need changing soon!
