Hi I'm after some guidance please!

2010 W212 E250 CDI has developed a serious coolant leak. The oil cooler went, and the garage repaired that - all good.

When the oil cooler was being changed we could see a LOT - of bars stop leak in the cooling system. Since getting the car I've done 30,000 miles with no coolant leak at all and so I think the stopleak was added before me and has held all that time.

With the coolant flushed and cleaned during the oil cooler change, the bars leak has come out, and so I now have a significant coolant leak - on a 6 mile trip just now coolant light came on 3 times and I had to fill the reservoir each time.

I've visually checked what I can see of the engine and there's no evidence of water leak / steam anywhere. All the hoses look fine and in good condition.

There's no pressure in the coolant system if I remove the coolant cap even when up to temperature, no emulsion anywhere, no steam out of the exhaust, gearbox and engine dipsticks are both free of emulsion.

I've looked at the fuel filter housing from the top and there's no evidence of any liquid there - it's dry and clean underneath in the tray - does that mean it's not the fuel filter housing.

I've looked at the water pump housing and thats dry and clean.

The garage doing the oil cooler were good, and I trust that they would have seen if there were any leaks in the coolant system that they would have encountered in doing the oil cooler but maybe they missed the fuel filter. Where else could a leak commonly be that wouldn't have been shown up when the oil cooler was being done?

Any tips on other common coolant leaks would be really appreciated!

Thanks

I would be doing a pressure test when the car is hot. This will be the only way you will find out. It must be going somewhere.,,

A place that often leaks but people don't see is the pipe to the bulkhead from the engine. Its on the left by the EGR valve. (as you sit in the car)

Great points. I'll have a look there this afternoon. Thanks
