W212 E Class 4 Matic, (Estate)

Hi, i've just changed my 2010 350 (petrol) T-4 Matic for a E500 T-4 Matic and was wondering whether i can use some 17" rims i have with winter tyres on for a E500 with an AMG sport pacakge fitted. (currently has 18" rims with summer tyres)

Wheels i have are genuine MB wheels, A212 401 0402 model, 8.5J x 17 ET 48 with 245 x 45 x 17 Micelin winter tyres.

Some people say yes and some say no...anybody got definate answer ?

This may sound silly...but could you not remove a wheel and try the winter wheel?

I believe that the 4-Matic system is sensitive to wheel & tyre sizes. You could stick them on and see if it throws a wobbly.
