Out for a trundle in Arundel and she suddenly wasn't keen on changing up until knocking on the door of 3K...tried switching to S and then M alas to no avail....

Didn't much want to take the chance on taking her for a longer run....looking in the history seems there was an ATF change in 2021 at 60K (now at 76K)...

I think I read there is a 'gearbox service'....not sure what they do....

Anyone else?

The car is in limp mode to protect it . You need the fault codes read , it could be anything .

Yes I have no fault codes on the dash so plugged in my icarsoft mb v2 diag but it found no fault either...probably needs Star at a good indie.

Sometimes simply turning off and back on can reset things . Your problem can be engine related and nothing to do with the gearbox.

Hmmm took it to a local Mercedes specialist who plugged into Star and said no errors were found....took for a test drive and couldn't replicate the issue.

Reset the gearbox maybe and let it learn your driving style .

Yes I found the steps to do that on Youtube but it still came back a couple of weeks later. Am surprised a car going into limp mode with no ability to switch to Manual or Sport would produce no error on Star? (though have to admit I know nothing about the limits of Star diagnostic equipment)

For a cheap parts darts option, you could try giving the battery a good charge, amd changing the DPF pressure sensor for a genuine Merc unit. Sounds awfully like symptoms I was having, also without repeatable code generation. Turning off and on the car could clear the fault sometimes. It got more and more regular.

My new DPF pressure sensor has seemed to have sorted the issue.
