Evening all. I'm looking at how to hardwire in a dashcam in a 2016 W213 Saloon. This is the version with the facelifted interior, 12" screen etc and I'm looking for the best way to do it
I did one on my W204 by going into the centre console and wiring off the 12v socket and by the looks of it is it possible to go the same way? Has anyone done this, pulling the first part of the console out where the socket lives? Is it as "ahem" simple as the guides say or am I opening the biggest can of worms ever? I don't fancy running it from the boot as it's going to be a pain putting the rear camera in as well (hiding the 5m of cable). The other option is an OBD type, but with the new MoT rules, the camera needs to be behind the mirror so running the cable from drivers side past the block was impossible on the W204.

Anyway, what we saying chaps? Any tips?

You posh old tart !

What engine has it got m8 ?
I've gone for the 2l diesel 194bhp AMG Line again, but with the facelifted interior, looks good. Would have been great if it had the Premium Pack, but just couldn't find one in my budget.

Hopefully picking up Friday

Easier to just pop the end trim off the dash (where the drivers door contacts flush with it upon closing) and wire in a fused outlet or piggyback fuse there.

From there you can run your cable up the A pilar and along the top of the screen.

As the rocker arm bearings aren't good as the mileage climbs .

I read somewhere that those fuses were all perm live and not switched live? Hence why either the OBD and 12v socket ideas?

Happy to be told otherwise.

This is the code fron the VIN lookup data card 654920 80 020544

If that helps?

Is that down to poor maintenance or oils?

Yeah that's a 654 , bearings not heavy duty enough , I think it's the inlet ones that suffer but everything gets replaced anyway as it messes up the camshaft lobes .

Anything that can be done to mitigate or preventative measures? Rather than a new engine..

More frequent oil changes could help , not sure what the interval is but generally most modern cars are too long .

What's the millage of the E ?
