Had the car for 6 months now and it falls out of MB warranty next May. Debating whether to renew the warranty or not and whilst the car scares me still (no bad thing) there is a thought about what it would be like with a Brabus tune and/or exhaust on it. Not sure how different the Brabus exhaust would be to the current which sounds great I think (and so much better than sports exhausts from Audi RS and BMW M), also what difference the Brabus 700/800 package would be. The prices are of course 'on request' so can anyone shed light on real world differences and cost please? May well be that I just leave it stock (she's running at least 620 bhp and 660 lb ft torque confirmed on a dyno) but just toying with the options.

The Brabus option is a nice to have but very expensive for what it is, unless it allows you to retain a Mercedes’ warranty?

If you aren’t looking to retain the warranty then I’d talk with MSL about tuning options. They will also advise on exhaust options and this will give you more scope to choose. Cost wise Id recommend this route.

Hope this helps.

I hear you but from where I'm coming from I'm looking to the future for when I move the car on. In general I don't keep my performance cars much beyond 1-2 years. With some Brabus magic on yes it's more expensive but you also buy into that brand which is looked upon much more favourably.
Tuning and mods are a very very contentious subject and it's a real balance between keeping it sensible and going down the whole 'Max Power' Southend Beach Front route. FWIW I would never buy a tuned car advertised on regular car platforms. It would have to be a known enthusiast forum where people can vouch for it and it's been cared for.
Lets be honest-people tune cars to make them go faster and harder. In the majority of cases tuned= thrashed. I have tuned a few cars before but kept it to safe figures and always Stage 1 or 2. Many of the key respectable dealers will not touch a tuned car and who can blame them? MSL I have read about and whilst the same figures would be produced and far cheaper they will not carry the same weight as Brabus on resale. Go to a MB dealer and say 'Brabus tuned' and they will consider it. Say 'MSL' (or anyone else) and see what happens. I also tend to never advertise my cars anywhere outside of a forum. Auto Trader/Pistonheads etc and it's a non-stop deluge of idiots ringing you up. Tuned car doubles that number. I'd rather pay extra and get the payback down the line. Hope that makes sense?

I have the price lists for several models I’ve had over the years, I’ll have a look for them. It’s probably easier to contact a retailer and they’ll price it up for you though.

As well as VAT there are import duties (thanks to Brexit) and shipping charges on top of list prices which add up to quite a lot, but IMHO it’s worth it.

Bob Forstner, Sandown and Zenith Performance are all worth contacting. The price will be the price but you may find that one may throw-in some “bits” for you 👍🏻

You could also try Brabus directly which is great if you plan to take the car to Bottrop or can install parts yourself, otherwise the official retailers are probably a better bet.

Hope this helps.

MSL offer a "My Genius" gizmo which allows you to upload a remap and then revert back to standard at will (ie when you come to sell).
Might be a better value option...
