How much are a set of W219 AMG alloys worth? They are as standard fitment to my CLS55, but were also fitted to E55's and possibly SL55's. They have been professionally dipped and repainted in Matt black and are unmarked with no damage.

Any ideas what they'd go for on here or on EBay?

That car looks awful with those black wheels. Why do people have no taste.

Taste is a subjective thing though - one man's food is another man's poison and all that.

I personally like them on that CLS.

Had they been silver, I may well have done a 'developer215' on mine for the right price...

You clearly have oodles of style :thumb:.

I paid £650 with 2 good tyres, 2 bad tyres, from ebay, but they needed a smart repair on a couple.

New they are c£2300 for the wheels alone.

Jules, they look great on your car.

keep them for winter mate!

Hi Harry,

Thanks for your opinion on black wheels on a black car. To be honest I have never been 100% sure myself. I am toying with buying a different set of alloys or having them repainted away from black.

However, you've totally missed the question that was being asked, which for some people can be the story of their life.......just that they don't see it!?

Read the sentence above a couple of times to understand it properly before you reply, if you really want to.

Jules.

Just the alloys or tyres and alloys?

Possibly just the alloys. The rear tyres still have good tread so would transfer these to the next set. The front tyres would probably stay on the alloys as they wouldn't be my choice of tyre, but were new on the car when I bought it so was just letting them wear before replacing.

Jules.

The problem you have with selling alloys only is that the buyer looks at a big cost; four brand new tyres on 19" will be around £600, add to that the alloys and it doesn't look such a good idea.

I like black wheels by the way, take no gorm of these old duffers.

Jules.
I understood totally.
However, I did not reply as you may have wished but, purely went on a rant over the black wheels. I have a bee in my bonnet right now anout this topic as I'm not too far away from buying a slightly used C63. The dam thing has black wheels and I'm trying to do a deal with the garage to swap them.

That's the same predicament I had when I bought the CLS. The Gent I purchased it from did some subtle changes to the car, which included changing the colour of the alloys and repainting the front grill, to be honest on meeting him I would never have expected this would be his taste as he was respectable and in his mid fifties. It does make the car look meaner, almost Hammer like, but it also verges on the "gangster", "pimp" and "drug dealer" look. These are some of the comments I get from friends and family, it is very marmite, 50% love it, especially the younger one's including the younger one's at heart.

I always intended to have them resprayed back to silver, but now think that it would look too ordinary again. The other option is to repaint them a light shadow chrome, which gets away from the harshness of the black and lifts them closer to silver whilst remaining a bit of individualism.

Don't let it stop you buying the C63, worse case you can have them redone for £300-£350.

Jules

i love those wheels and would be more then happy to take them off your hands without the tyres
