I am looking to install speed camera detector (Origin B2) in my 2007 320CDI. I need to be able to thread the wires through the dashboard and pick up a switched 12v supply. Any tips on which wiring I should use, and also can I get access from the dash side or do I have to remover the lower panel under the steering wheel. I am proposing to fit the detector behind the driver's-side vent.

"Can I remove this?" is cover for fuses, just pull it out and you'll get all you need.

You can also just remove the screws from the panel above drivers feet and drop it down a couple of inches.

Do stick the cable you run across to the cigarette lighter down or in a place it can't get caught in steering wheel "moving" mechanism, and don't forget to fuse it properly - with lots of these detectors there is a small fuse within the cigarette lighter plug and/or a power supply in there so cutting off the plug may not be the correct thing to do if indeed there is a cigarette lighter plug on it.

yes I think I'll have to do that - the side panel seems not to remove easily, so may not be an access panel after all
