Hello all,

Having recently joined the ranks of Merc owners with an 07 W221 320L I am very happy and much prefer it to the A8 previously owned. The only thing I am disappointed with is the light level of the reversing lights.

Does anyone know if it's possible to fit brighter LED bulbs or other method to be able to see where I am reversing to. Compared to our Discovery it's terrible.

The wife drove it the other night and came in asking when we were going to get a seeing eye dog to sit in the boot so he can hop out and guide us when we put it in reverse.

Thank you for any advice or help

Mike.

I'm not sure that reversing lights are designed to illuminate your path more to let others know that you are maneuvering.

Fair point, had not considered this as all our previous cars have certainly lit up the rear to help prevent any bumps or ditches.

You can change the rear lights to the Facelift, there are LED, don't know what difference they make as I have the pre - facelift 221

I had considered this but prefer to keep the car original as far as possible. I wondered if brighter led bulbs would help, just not sure if they will end up causing bulb out warnings. Should. It as they are not checked but who can tell on modern wiring systems now.

The reverse lights aren't LED on the facelift. Neither is the foglight.

I wouldn't have thought some good LEDs would cause a bulb out warning.
