Hello,

I am looking for this boot release button. It is for a 1997 w202.

Thanks,
DRM.

Has it broken then? I Hope not. If so it's going on my list of things to worry about ;) Not really, just curious.

I think you'l find the dealers are very reasonable for parts!! Give them a try.

Stu

Simon, the previous owner somehow managed to remove it heh.

And yes I have tried the dealership but they cannot order the piece seperately, in order for me to get it from the dealership I have to order the entire console that sits around the gear selector which is $800 AU (Around 250 Pounds).

There is nearly always w202's breaking on eBay, keep an eye out and ask the sellers for one

Really? I'd get a second opinion from another dealer - I cant believe this is true.

Hello Spike,

I have called four dealerships and they all say the same thing. One said $770 but that isn't really a saving heh.

I will check the catalogue later, I cannot believe that it requires anything more than a switch, which will be about £20 maximum.

I know that, for example, on a W202 the four electric window switches come as one unit - and cannot be purchased seperately AFAIK.

Agree with KillerHERTZ, it may be cheaper to wait until one come up on eBay etc?

Good Luck :)

Will

Thanks for the replies. Gerry, I will give Julian an e-mail.

Shude, thanks for your help and yeah it is pretty stupid I think. It seems that you can order a lot of the other buttons seperately but this one you have to order with the entire panel.

And yeah Will I am keeping a keen eye on eBay for the unit. Even still, if one came up on eBay I bet it would not be reasonably priced heh.

If I had a problem with the console altogether I would probably bite the bullet and pay the $800, or try and wait for one to come on to eBay etc. My problem is that the console I have at the moment is working fine apart from the missing boot release button which looks like it can just be clicked into place heh.

I checked in the catalogue.

A2108214051 : SWITCH : EUR 213.81

How wrong was I?

Part number is only an example, without knowing all the car's options I can't guarantee anything!

Yeah, well thanks for your help and let me know if anyone has any other ideas as the best offer I have so far is a second hand console at 75 pounds. That's a good saving from the originally quoted 250 pounds but considering I am only after the plastic button, not so good.

We could still possibly make something out of some oem parts, the USA models had the release switch prior to facelift, I will check the catalogue again later to see if it is available on it's own, although I have no idea how you will integrate it into the existing panel!

It's part of the "u" shaped switch pack, you'll need a complete switch pack.

If you scroll up a few posts you will see that we already know this :)
