Hi all i'm looking for a C36 AMG next, ideally i'd like azurite blue with black leather, then black with black leather and finally silver with black leather. I have a budget of £4k which i feel is ample but can go another £500 for the right car.

Options wise it must have:
Aircon
Heated seats (electric ones would be nice!)
Cruise control

I reckon that a facelift car will have these options so thats what i'm looking for, it must have a very good service history, previous MOTs are a must.

Other than that i don't want aftermarket alloys, i don't want 18s, i don't want tinted windows, i don't want speakers cut in door cards.

I don't mind lowering springs if they are H&R, don't mind uprated dampers - bilstien/koni but really less is more!

In summary i want a clean straight car, highish miles (upto 120k) with the correct service history is not a problem, low miles with a 'lost' service history in a house move is.

I've seen the ones on autotrader and ebay but they're not exactly what i want so i'm prepared to wait a little longer, so if you have one you're thinking of selling get in touch.

Thanks :)

Hi Nick,

I'll keep a casual eye out for you. The prices of these cars are all over the place at the moment, they've bottomed out now as far as I can tell, so really not a bad time to be buying at all :)

I wouldn't discount a clean C43 either, might open up your options for you a bit? I take it if you're looking for a facelifted model (later style switchgear, MBSS etc) then you'll be getting one with a 722.6 5-speed gearbox also - worth checking that it's all ok IMHO.

I'm sure I noticed a fairly good looking C36 the other day - can't remember if it was on autotrader/PH/eBay, but it seemed to fit most of your criteria and I think it was about £3k!

Have you driven many of these yet (36s or 43s)?

Cheers,

Will

Edit - here's the car I was thinking of!

Hi Will i did go to check that car out as it's not very far from me, perfect spec, lovely car but a patchy service history, alarm bells were ringing when i asked him directly if all the previous MOTs were with the car and the answer was vague at best, good price though.

Yeah i prefer the 5 speed to the 4 speed but i am aware that they are more fragile than the 4.

I've not driven one yet as all that i've been to see have had patchy service histories and excessive rust, no point driving something that i didn't want.

I'm 100% on the C36 though, when i want a V8 it'll be an E55, the C43 doesn't do it for me!

good choice, also dont discount 18"s and light smoke tints;) or any tint really as they are easy to remove :)

Apart from here, ebeg and autotrader, do you know of anywhere else that there might be one or two for sale Alps? Is there an owners club ste of somesort?

Thanks,

Nic

As you say - lack or rust and completeness of service history are quite good starting points.

Aside from the patchy history/MOTs what else was wrong with that one?

I'd say from the pics that the mileage looks about right. If it's not too rusty and drives as it should, £3k isn't a bad price (I'm sure you'd be able to get it for less!)

That leaves a good £1500+/- of your budget to cover any potential niggles that should arise. Personally, I'd just remove than boot spoiler, and give it a good service and once over :)

Remember, these car are 10-15 years old now, it's hard to find one that ticks every box on all levels, including the price ;)

The problem with that one is that its now sold as i dithered over it :D

I'm even tempted to go back to a 2.5-16 but the nature of the car doesn't suit my driving at the moment.

owners club.... this one :)

i`ll keep an eye out, but theres a few on ebay at the mo.

Bext of luck in your search - you'll find a good one with some time and effort :-)

I've got one lined up, getting it HPI'd tomorrow hopefully. Then its a question of making sure that i can withdraw money from the bank tomorrow. Not that i like rushing in to things but possibly by the end of the week i'll have one in my possesion :)
