Warning light!

Hi.

I have a year 2000 Vito 110Cdi with 116,000 miles.

The other day whilst driving normally at 30 mph my van gave a little "cough" and the
EDC warning light illuminated, but no other symptoms. In due course I
realised that I was in "limp home mode" with only 3000rpm maximum revs
and no turbo function.

A Bosch injection garage diagnosed the fault (£47.00) as a faulty fuel
rail sensor which I promptly replaced (£123.14), only to find
absolutly no difference at all. :(
On returning to the garage the mechanic again checked the system but
still came up with the same fault, this time suggesting that the fuel
regulator, main brain, or even just a break in a wire could be the
problem (even though his £8500 diagnostic kit pointed to the fuel rail
sensor), and was unable to say how much it would cost.

This is a very recent problem and the van seems to drive OK, subject
to limp mode.

Has anybody had this or similar problems?

Many thanks
