hello all
merry xmas and hapy new year wishes to all
Can someone explain why the front windscreen jets ( on the bonnet or hood) have electrical wires to them as well as the water hose?
Why and how
Thanks Karl

They are heated, to stop them freezing up in winter.

omg really, clever. thanks
I saw new ones on ebay and looked at mine and wondered why.
My washer pump has a short in it so i have to replace it, and probably the fuse when i find it. They have never worked since ive had it.

A fairly common feature on many models for many years here.

My previous E-Class also heated the washer bottle 👍

Yes...a great idea.... that way instead of freezing solid in the bottle or the jets it stays liquid...... until the exact moment it hits the screen at 70 on the motorway.... so you are instantly blinded!

My C was the same; which I always thought was a great idea because no matter how hot the jets get, if the water in the bottle is frozen solid, you're stuffed.

I wonder if @Steveml63 is wondering what all this talk of cold and ice is about??? 🤷‍♂️

😁
Well - both our cars have heated steering wheels, seats and washer jets!
We do actually use the heated seats in January - it can get very chilly here at that time 12 degrees C typically!
Max today was 26 degrees C and minimum will be around 18 degrees C in the night

I’ll imagine it never gets so cold that you can’t feel ya fingers (aside from a handful of ice cubes in your babycham) 🤗

Bottle , hoses and jets all heated on my 2006 C class, also spray Nozzles have no adjustment .
I recall seeing a material wrapped around the washer tubing with wires embedded. Washer jets were fine when working but would block relatively regularly (twice a year or so)

New ones were expensive (circa £50 each from MB) but I found good after market versions on Amazon for well under £20.

lol oh yeah that would be a bugger
