Stupid question probably but...

Considering the 300TD engine in a W210 or W124D does the water pump push or pull the water around the radiator? ie. in or out the thermostat stub, remembering that the thermostat is down on the side of the pump on this engine and not on the head. It's this that's confusing me.

I'm fitting a monovalve in place of the vacuum thingy in the heater circuit and there is a direction arrow on it's housing.

I know I should know this but the question has never arisen before.

I believe the standard is for the radiator top hose to feed the hot water into the radiator and the bottom hose recirculates the cooler (slightly) denser water back to the engine. I know that doesn't directly answer the question but it may help if you trace the hoses back.

^ Well done that man. :thumb:

Thanks.
