SLK R171
Hi,
I'm new here, I recently bought a SLK 200 Kompressor R171 2010. I've owned 2 SLKs before this one, but only recently returned to the fold.
I'm not sure if I've posted this in the correct forum but any help gratefully received.
I've only had the car 3 weeks and today I noticed a wet patch on the ground underneath the offside rear, just underneath the boot and directly under the offside exhaust.
The residue on the ground looks watery, possibility a little greasy. I know the pump for the roof is in the boot on this side.
Could it be a leak from the hydraulics?
Many thanks.

Any chance that's just the drain from beside the fuel filler?

Have you got any problems with the hydraulics that might lead you to think they're leaking?

Hi many thanks for the reply.
No problems with the roof, goes up and down ok. The weather was very dry here yesterday when i noticed the little damp patch under the car, so didn't think it was dirty water coming from the drain tubes from the rear window.
What does the drain from fuel filler do please?
Cheers

It just stops rain etc pooling around the filler neck, and I suppose it helps spilt fuel escape without running down the bodywork.

It just seems like the kind of thing that might dribble out slowly on one side near the rear axle.

Might be a problem with the fuel tank venting system. The charcoal filter often gets missed on services- quite a few flexibles to leak also. With these mystery fluids always best to get a handle on their exact nature/source to narrow down the cause of any leak.

It doesn't smell of anything, looks a bit greasy dirty water. Hasn't happened today, so I'll keep an eye on it.
Thanks all.
