I have spent the morning phoning round local garages to try and find somewhere closer to home that will Waxoyl my car. I had no luck initially so changed tactics to look for 4*4 and import specialists.

Some garages who rust proof 4*4's won't work on Mercedes as they are worried that they will mess up the MAS sensors etc landing them with a big repair bill.

Finally spoke to a guy at Allans Vehicle Services who is quoting £140, this includes injection into box sections.

Has anyone used this garage? I would be interested to hear any comments.

Thanks, Peter.

A friend of mine had a Volvo done by a local garage some years ago. It would be fair to say they missed as much as they covered.
Go to a specialist as they understand the requirement and have the proper kit.
Insist on them showing you the work done before you pay and leave, as there have been reports of poor work from one of the big names.

Thanks for the replies so far.

The problem I have is being based in Devon it is a long way to travel to one of these specialists to then pay around £500. I have had trouble finding any recommendations for any of these companies on various forums and think its a lot of money to payout without hearing some true customer feedback.

I was thinking of having a go myself but thought it was worth £140 as they should do a better job simply by having a ramp and professional spraying equipment.

The specialist companies I have found so far are below, I would be interested to hear if anyone knows of any others that are based a bit closer to me.

Funny, waxoyl was invented by a couple of blokes up the road from me. My father recounts a funny story on how they made it ( he was a material scientist). He actually thinks he knows a better recipe; thats a different story though.

It makes an awful mess, and needs to be done properly. However it will can add a sunstantial weight to the car, depending on how its done.

Thats not to say you cant do it, but you need to know how and which box sections to add it to.

Think Id pay quite a lot to get it done properly. My father swears by it. The mixture of bees wax and parrafin works wonders.

I keep bees, the wax does have amazing properties.
Re-Waxoyl I think there are slightly better alternatives these days.
Various Dinitrol products score higher in magazine tests.
