Just back from a terrific holiday in the US where the Car (and in particular the V8) is very much still the King. So what I have come back to?

  • Petrol at £1.42 a litre ( or £6.43 a UK Gallon) as opposed to $1.39 (a smaller) US Gallon (about 3.78 litres) for Premium Gas. At an exchange rate of $1.52 to the £ that equates to 91p a US Gallon.
  • Shed draggin folk engaged in a five mile procession with HGV's restricted to 56 MPH
  • Badly Pot holed roads outside the worlds leading airports
  • An unmarked grey BMW parked in a shaded layby at the top of the M11 (Stumps Cross) with 'the Sherriff' tottin his Speed Gun
  • Chris Evans and sunshine.
Good to be back!

That’s the problem with such a nice holiday (especially the US) you have to come back! I have had a holiday every year in the US for the past 10yrs, and every time I return home, I’m totally agog at just how much we are actually `Fully Ripped!’. To top it all, the weather in the UK is always a letdown. As for radio 2 first thing...FFS. Another thing (whilst I’m on my soapbox) how can a Range Rover made in England, be a load cheaper in the USA?

Welcome home............

The current price of gas in the US is $1 a litre...$4.546 per Imperial gallon...about £2.86a gallon...your figures are way out. At your $1.39 per litre the cost per gallon would be $6.32 or £3.98 ( or £3.30 per US gallon).

Nice to have a health service for all though. No?

Absolutely!!

Would be nice though if they would drop VAT down and reduce the tax on fuel.

When I realized that £12,700 of the car purchase price was going to the government, I very nearly said `**** It!’ And forget it! As you only live once........As you can see, 20% straight to helping the ****’n immigrants coming into the country........:wallbash:

I thought leasing was tax deductable?

Funny, innit, how so many firms are so keen to employ the hard working people who are coming to our shores...
