Hi all,

New to the Merc world and have just bought a Vito Dualiner W639 on a '14 plate, picking it up Monday, can't wait!

Question is: What software/diagnostics do Mercs use for coding, fault code finding and fault code clearing etc? I've always been a VAG man and have VCDS so can talk to my T5 with my laptop, does Mercedes have a similar software package available that runs through the OBDII port?

First things on my list are tow bar with compatible electrics and upgrading the headhunt to Sat-Nav and Reverse Camera, both of which will need coding in I'm sure.

All help appreciated folks,

Jonny

Mercedes use MB STAR diagnostic computer, but these are only available for purchase by trade, i.e. MB will only sell it to garages but not to private individuals. You can buy a Chinese clone though, but keep in mind that there are different models so you'll need to do some research first.

If you are looking for an inexpensive alternative that does some of STAR's functions (but obviously many features are missing, and no coding), then the iCarsoft MB II at around £140 comes highly recommemded and it is good value for the price.

You can also look at the Autel MD804 with the 'all systems' add-on.

Personally I use this App and OBDII Bluetooth adapter:

I have the ELM327 Bluetooth adapter, but where do I plug it in? I have looked where I can under the dash, but haven’t found the socket
