Well I was looking around my engine the other day after reading the supercharger muffler thread from the other forum and I noticed that the pipe in the following pictures was not connected at one end, I dont know what purpose the pipe has, nor do i know how long it had been disconnected but if anyone know what this pipe is actually for, please let me know.

The pipe does a u-turn under the bit that is circled.

Any info would be a great help.

Thanks in advance

it seems me something relevant to the oil vapour recirculation. Mine is a W202 kompressor and it has a similar devices: a black plastic box (separator) with 3 pipes: one from the engine top (as from your photo) one small pipes to the oil dipstick and another conduit to the air box.

Your is quite different as shape from mine but I think it's the same.

It'better you check that all connection are OK, may be some other Guy with an engine like your may help you more than I.

NOTE: my separator and relevant pipes are a little bit dirt all around due to vapour oil.

Pretty much as '1998K' has said, they are breathers/PCV pipes. I replaced most of these on my W202 C230K (similar set-up) as they tend to go hard and brittle with age (and the heat from being directly above the exhaust manifold! ;) )

Most likely it has aged and come adrift, I'd just order a new one from your dealership and pop it on (easy to fit). It cant have been off for very long as there doesn't appear to be much oil deposits in that area (you can see the slight build up on the side of your cam cover)

HTH :)
