Wondering what this is in the armrest cubby....very annoying as it limits access.

It's the connector for the phone cradle. The raised part should slide off revealing the connection pins

Typically you'd plug a Bluetooth 'puck' in there, to connect your phone.

I`ve paired my smartphone to the Comand unit....not that I`ll ever use it

You might be able to remove the cover of you need more room in there.

Is there not a second compartment underneath, my CLK has a double lift, the first one is for the phone puck and a deeper one for other stuff.

Has your car been retrofitted with a later COMAND? Ours (also 2007 C Class) has factory COMAND but needs the BT puck in the centre console for the phone.

You can pair it directly to the old COMAND...it just won't do anything
