Bought on a whim, dreamt of turning it into a period AMG of some sort, but it has been parked up ever since I got it....and now it's just sadly getting in the way and I've not got the time to collect/buy the few bits it needs...The W126 was the car that started my attraction towards the three pointed star in the eighties, hence the purchase...

Thought about just sitting in it from time to time making brum-brum noises but then remembered I'm not a six year old...

I'm as well just sticking on eBay I think, unless anyone on here wants it?

I like the idea of it but my wallet could never keep up with the fuel tank. I'd end up just sitting in it making brum-brum noises - I wish I was six years old again!

Someone will take it surely - there's not much that wrong with it that a bit of TLC wont put right.

I think it's far too nice for Birmingham.

Keep it and sort it Lee, it won't cost you much and it is a proper car.

Time and space always decides the outcome unfortunately, hopefully someone
on here has those to spare.

I know, I know...

My problem of space arises from the fact that, on another whim, I've bought another MK1 Golf GTi 'project' and have given my word that I'll buy a Ford Capri (don't ask) off of the same bloke.

The W126 is the most superior car I'll probably ever own, but I'm currently tipping the scales at six vehicles and the reality hasn't quite hit home with the other two additions just yet so it'll have to go I think.

If I bought that and stuck it on my drive, it would block the road and take half of the house's driveway up opposite me :D

.. and I thought my SAAB 95 was long !

They (W126's) really are incredibly comfy things. The only thing I've owned that compared to my old SEC was a 1984 Jaguar 4.2 XJ6 SII, that was like wafting around in your lounge. It's also surprising how other drivers attitude towards you changes when driving an old waftamatic Jag.

I am looking for a spares car....

What would you want to let it go for? Feel free to PM me instead of posting on here.

Sticking it through an MOT tomorrow, just for laughs...

I can see this getting expensive....

For a 25 year old car - not bad at all!
A bit of fettling and that car is a good runner for someone - comfortable to boot. Too good to break, even though that was its destiny prior to your tenure. Consider yourself its saviour!
With a fresh test on it, it also means should you decide to sell it, that anyone can step off a train in Doncaster and drive it home without a concern in the world (fuel bill excepted).

Mine failed on the handbrake, not convinced MOT place really knew how it worked, as I could not move the car with it on.

I find that I have to educate them on seat locking (couple only) and the handbrake. Hope you are lucky on that one Lee, as it is a pain to adjust.

The handbrake is definitely not good.

A small list, easily sorted. It has your name on it Lee!

They are adjustable under the rear disk, in theory they can be adjusted through the disk, but I never managed to do that.

I am replacing rear calipers and disks on my C126 this weekend, and will also do the handbrake shoes when I am there, so if you get stuck Lee, I may be able to help.

I've got to make the decision tomorrow morning; either start spending or get rid. The garage don't mind storing it if it's going to have work done but if I'm dilly-dallying then I've got to get it back to mine which just can't happen due to lack of space (obviously no MOT means it can't be sat on the road).

I'll see how I feel in the morning, truth is I've got a big workload developing and I just know it'll end up sitting on the drive gathering dust.
