Hi all, Ive recently purchesed a 1999 e55 amg and i'm loving it. The cars in great condition and drives like new, only thing is when cleaning the engine bay the other day, on removal of the engine cover it looks as though a part is missing!

Ive no pic to show (trying to sort 1 out) but what ever this part is it's directly under the front of the engine cover, it would almost be touching the cover. All that's there now, which leads me to think a part is missing is a large type clamp that would fit around the part (similar to how some starting motors are held) and two connectors and wires at either end. What the hells missing!? anyone any ideas?

That is where the air pump would be.

Don't worry the uk cars did not have them. Its for emmision control in the US (California)

It does look a bit weird though but you have nothing to worry about.

Welcome and nice car BTW.

Thanks alot. I can stop worrying now and carry on enjoying the car. Cheers. :)
