What's the best cabriolet ?

Open to all sorts of abuse now ....

I want a 2 seater (or a 2+2) as a 'toy' and would appreciate your input - especially if you own or have owned one.

Here's my remit and thoughts.

• It will live in a garage and be taken out when i want to drive it. Certainly not the daily driver - my S500 will be that car.
  
• Budget will be a maximum of £10k.
  
• Want a powerful engine. Remember I have an S500.
  
• Good level of comfort and spec. Remember I have an S500.
  
• Brand is not important. I recently bid my available cash on a R129 (and lost) but I really like the style of the BMW C645 Ci. Open to suggestion.

What's your thoughts ????

We run R129 500, CLK 320 Avantgarde and an E30 SE 320, if 4 seats are unimportant the R129 wins and not by a short distance, absolutely superb in everyway.
In saying that the CLK is also great but the engine feels like a sewing machine motor in comparison to the V8.

Nah, nice car but I want something with less seats and a bit 'sportier'.

I'd rather have an E320 coupe than the cabrio if you know what I mean ....

R129 would be a good fit for you Steven.

A CLK55AMG cabrio or CLK500 cabrio would be a comfort zone choice but a good one. AnyV6 petrol search M272 engine problems out.I'd stick with the V8 for the Mercedes.

Want sporty, try a BMW E46 M3 manual, Boxster although they have a few major engine quirks and might not be as bullet proof as you think. Driven the E46 330i, good chassis, the M3 will be fun and all come mega spec.

You've mentioned 645i a few times now, why not get that? BMW Z4, they ride fine, driven one on RF tyres. Big fun but a bit cramped. Honda S2000 is a reliable choice.

Audi S4 cabrio? Nice and a bit different, a few faults.
