Another dose of meds for old classic cars . Few years back it was removal of the unleaded fuel ..Now the new one is E10 .Or is this crap a dose of poison , just to make more room for the electric cars . 600.000 owners will need to use other type of fuel .. I use Premium Unleaded this is to be faded out .So i know i will have to migrate over to Super Unleaded .. I checked the Gov,co .uk web site and i found this pic . So how would manufactues know theat E10 was coming 32 years ago so i wont find 31 JUNE .pngany information in my book or on my fuel flap .

To be on the safe side, why not just use E5 fuel instead, and avoid E10 altogether?

Going by analogy with carburettor fed petrol engines of gardening equipment --- carb fed car engines may experience gum formation- blocked jets/float chambers due to the higher ethanol fuel being hygroscopic [ water attracting]- this in particular for "summer classic " cars which may experience long periods of inactivity over the winter months allowing fuel to go stale - fuel additives are available to combat this

What will happen with petrol lawn mowers or other petrol driven garden devices?

you can buy ethanol free / stabilised fuel-or-fuel additiives from garden machinery suppliers. - at a cost!

Also E5 (premium fuel) is available, at a cost.

Though presumably in the case of a classic car the annual mileage will be low and the higher cost of fuel won't be an issue?

Quoting my Honda 4 stroke lawn mower agent they get loads of calls every spring from clients complaining about their mower not starting. the conversation goes thus
1 did you fill up with E5-YES
2 when did you last use the mower-last october.
3 did you drain the mower tank and carb float chamber at the end of the season -NO
4 if you did - this year did you fill up with fresh E5- NO or the E5 thats been sitting in a can at the back of the garage for a couple of years-YES

Pro gardeners who are using fresh E5 all the time and drain their fuel system at season end may have no problems with E5--- its when carbs sit around for months with stale fuel that problems may occur.

That’s about it, but even so I’m not going to worry if I have occasionally use the new stuff in JZR’s 40-odd year old engine

Check Shell's website, they say there in which region Shell V-Power contains no Ethanol.

I use this fuel stabiliser.

Apparently, as we all know, E10 fuel will reduce CO2 emissions, if your car was on the border line for rfl, will the use of E10 lower the rfl you have to pay? I doubt it very much :D
