Hi, my front tyres were wearing on outer edges, passenger front had exposed cords pointed out in MOT by Mercedes Stratford upon Avon, so I changed both front tyres, it had a B service at same time, they said wheel alignment is not the issue, but I'm not convinced that's true, the car drives straight no pulling to either side.

I've been looking into getting wheel alignment done but got told the camera has to be re aligned as well an extra £120,

Can someone who has had this done confirm if that is true, as I thought getting wheels aligned would bring them back to factory settings and as the camera is already at factory settings, it would be how it should be.

What camera are you talking about ? Do you mean camber .

Camera on front windscreen the that detects car in front lane assy etc

I recently purchased a S63 coupe and found that the vehicle would pull to the left ever so slightly. I took the car to a local laser tracking/alignment place who advised that in addition to the tracking issue they would need to calibrate the cameras (more than one) at a cost of £80 per camera!

Decided to take the car to Mercedes Leics who did whatever they needed to do for the tracking but their price of around £199 also included calibrations of the cameras. Hope that helps. Would advise you to try your local MB dealership first.

Thank you I'm from Leicester going to try them on Monday 🤞

**update** called Mercedes Leicester quoted £139 said no need for calibrating camera only do that after accident or windscreen change, took it to another place - exhaust brake and tyre centre on freehold street, showed tracking was ok on all but the camber by 0.01 this can't be adjusted, spoke to Mercedes they said it's how the car is setup even they won't adjust or replace camber bolts for such a small difference. Was not charged as they didn't do anything. Highly recommend these guys part of the good garage scheme, Mercedes did quote £139 and advised camera on front And rear doesn't need adjusting and they have never had to do it unless accident damage or windscreen,. Happy that's it's all ok hope this helps someone looking at same thing.

Hello everyone . I am a little confused here , out of alignment lane assist cameras can wear the front tyres down to the cord if not calibrated properly ? Eh ?

Genuine question .

No - I don't understand it either.
Wheel alignment is wheel alignment.
How can the camera alignment wear tyres ?

I don't know either but..
I had a new screen fitted and had to have the ADAS system recalibrated. This also required a four wheel geometry adjustment as part of the recalibration. Took over four hours....

That alignment is not out at that amount, the akerman effect on the front is most likely whats wearing your tyres

I rather think that there was initial confusion over 'camber' and 'camera', and that is still persisting. Just as well it's not a French car, or there'd be 'Camembert' to mudddy the waters as well... 😀

rom . I am having to assume here and I am sure others will put me right if I have this wrong.

I assume your C class is similar to my (older) C class.

The camber is only adjustable on the rear wheels via an eccentric bolt set up .

For the camber to be changed on the front there are 3 positions into which the slotted mounting bolt can be fitted into the slot in the front control arms .

Has any work ben done in this area ? The only way to check is find out which position they are supposed to be in then undo the bolts and pull them out to see where they have been installed in relation to the 3 available positions.

Oddly on my 2006 C55 AMG the bolt has no groove in it so can only be fitted in the central position . Yours might be a Bit like this.
