over the las couple of weeks i have felt a rusty sounding crunch coming from front of car . i have checked pads an discs an they seem to be fine . i thought the prob would go away but it hasnt . i have put pressure on bonnet to check for suspension problem but thats all fine. still got sound when i brake but also got a screeching sound when car is in motion which is getting louder by the day . ive had wheel bearing probs b4 but it doesnt really sound the same . any ideas?:wallbash:

did you check brake pads on both sides ? as it does sound like brake pads / discs to me and if you only took the one wheel off the other side may be the faulty one. Safety first, dodgy brakes or steering can be lethal.

yeah checked pads an discs both sides . all ok . plenty of meat on em . it sounds like a metel on metal screech . puzzled man puzzled

I changed pads and discs today and was playing around with the wheels spinning them and daydreaming at some stage, and it gave me this idea;
Jack up the car, put front on axle stands... and spin the wheels by hand. U may have to manually push in the calipers in to stop pads touching the disc... and if you do; open the brake fluid container and cover with a clean rag.
This should help pin point the location and cause of the noise...

Did you remove the pads? if the pads are or were split/vented/ grooved there could be a small stone imbedded into the material, now grinding, though you should see the telltale ring on the disk if it is on the outside you could struggle to see the inner disk surface. Any noise when the wheel is spun when on the jack? :wallbash:

Could be the light units if you have the Xenon lights that move! Is the noise road speed related?
