I bought a set of replacement wheel centre caps with chrome stars as my current ones are slightly sruffy.

So, after carefully poking at my wheels for a few minutes, I gave up thinking I cant be bothered with the hassel of removing all my wheels.

Is there any way of removing the old ones without taking all the wheels off?

You can drill a hole in the old one and then lever/pull it out with a screwdriver

If you have a thin knife you can slide down the edge and lever it out, mind your lacquer.

It'll take 5 minutes per wheel to remove them and refit. You could also give the wheels a clean from the inside and clean the mating faces of the hub/wheel up at the same time.

Do it the proper way and avoid marking your wheels and ruining the centre caps ;)

My method is
  • drill small hole in old centre cap (hand drill is fine)
  • insert self-tapping screw
  • pull screw with pliers to remove centre cap

Thanks to all that responded.......i finally put the new ones on by the following method.

Prise away the centre of the star. Although it breaks off it reveals a ready made hole - hence no need to drill.

Then, as per Bills suggestion, screw in a self tapping screw and pull the head with some pliers.

Job done!!

Dont forget to put the old ones on Ebay, they are sure to sell
