Before I make a bid for these wheels AMG Alloys , can someone tell me

A, Will they fit my car ?

B, Is the fitted tyre size correct for these wheels ?

C, Will the look good on a 1995 Cabriolet ?

A, dunno

B, dunno

C, YES  :D

You might want to double check, but I am pretty sure that they would fit your car (7.5J and ET37 all round should be OK?).

Tyre size on the front should be OK? Not 100% certain that a 245 would fit under the rear arches (those tyres should really be on the staggered set up with 8.5J rears)

And yes, I agree with pammy - they would suit the car and look pretty good IMHO. :)

yes to the first two Ray

the offset is correct for that width of rim and 7.5J will fit nicely inside the arches - i've got 8J rims on my W124 and there is no problem

the overall circumference of the tyres will be the same as your original tyre.

I'll agree though with Will's reservation about the tyre widths, 245 tyres seem very wide for a 7.5J rim and you are going to be sacrificing handling. I'd feel a lot happier with them attached to an 8.5J rim (my rear tyres are 225s on the 8J rims)

as to the third one - maybe, I'm not so sure they'll look good on a W124 but that's personal taste

Must say that at the price that they currently are, and considering the £60 carriage charge (perhaps you could pick them up?!?), they might end up going for silly money.

I've seen much worse wheels condition-wise, but I reckon they are not worth much more than what they are on at the moment (maybe £500ish if you were keen).

Again as always, IMHO! ;)

Good luck if you decide to bid... :)

Andy,

What do you reckon about the 255 or 245 (you'd have to check with the seller) rear tyres? Reckon there's enough room on the W124 rear arches/suspension clearance wise? :)

Will

I've just edited my post :)

this shows 225 on 8J 16s

I agree those tyres are wrong for the rims and would really need to be replaced with 205s.

incidentally I've found from my own experience (and opinion) that anything more than a 205 on the front of a W124 is less than perfect when you start pushing things :)

After much messing about with my tyres and trying various setups over the last year ( a friendly local tyre dealer helps) I've come to the conclusion that 205/55/16s on the front and 225/50/16s on the rear is the best combination for a W124.

Without meaning to spam-post this thread to pieces - is the eBay seller 100% correct when he says that 4x 17" 7.5J AMG Styling I wheels cost £1650? I know that they are expensive, but I would have guessed maybe £1000-1200? You can certainly buy them for much, much less than that elsewhere. ;)

And where is he paying £750 for those tyres?

Just so that you're aware....

Will

Thanks guys,
I was sure ET37 was the right size but was and still am worried about 245 width on a 7.5 J rim. I'm reasonably sure I have the wheel arch clearance but I think I'll look for others either with different tyers or no tyres and choose my own

you'll get a 245 under there but as Will said it's the wrong size tyre for that rim and you'll lose any benefit of the low profile tyres as the tyre wall will be able to roll around on the rim.

The interesting tjhing about that auction is that he's showing the wheels with no tyres on them - perhaps you could get him to do a deal?

Andy

Those wheels are about £250 each brand new from any old wheel shop, in case you're wondering :) .

Sorry Ray, leave them alone. Dont think they would look right on your car. Maybe Shude could photo shop them onto yours so you could look see?

The 124 cabrio looks a lot like the 208 CLK in general shape, also the 170 SLK and 202 C-class. If the wheels work on those cars then they'll probably work on the 124.

This pic assumes your current rims are 15".

Thought as much...

I like the fact that he (the seller!) thinks they're worth £2400 with tyres! :D

Think of a number, double it...

Think the styling II's would look better on the W124, but then I would say that ;)

15" is right, original wheels.

Thanks for the pic Shude, I dont think those wheels look right somehow, maybe a 10 year old AMG design would look better

I agree Mambo, in the case of the W124, the wider centre looks better. of course in my opinion I think the original 15 hole "flat face" alloys look great on a W124 :D

I think the seller is slightly over valueing both his wheels and tyres - 17" 245 contis are about £150 each maximum.

Andy

Ray if its any help, i have the Styling II copies on mine

225/45/17 all round on 7.5J rims, i think 245 would be pushing it a bit .......

But i think the Styling I's look good on a w124,

just my 2p....
