Evening all, I recently had my air compressor replaced and all is well with my Airmatic system... fingers crossed.

Just a general question, would leaving the car parked in the raised position cause issues?

As I like to leave the car fully raised when parked up.

What level do you guys/girls leave yours in when parked.

Any in put welcome.

Thanks

Michael

Mine has been in Sport 2(lowest) setting since I bought the car in July 2013 with the exception of a few occasions of raising it for extra high speed humps.

I've looked on the web and can't find a definite answer as to if leaving the car fully raised when parked.

Leaving the car in spt 2 I guess your struts are deflated?

Excuse my ignorance!

Thanks for the response

Hi Michael,

I leave mine in raised position due to needing to lift it, in order to get in and out of my garage.

There is no reason for it to cause an issue unless there is a potential leak. The increased pressure will expose this. Using the Airmatic modes is good for the system.

Yeah, I guess the struts are deflated at the lowest setting and inflate to raise the car.
I rarely touch the setting so I'm a bit ignorant about airmatic:confused:

Thanks Vick,

I was just sitting here thinking leaving the car raised would cause more strain for want of a better word on airmatic.

The car sits at the same level doesn't sink, I went away for a week just gone and the car hadn't dropped so I guess that's a good thing.

My other thought was would be the compressor I have just had a new oe one fitted be working even if the car is in 'sleep' mode to retain the height or do the struts lock out with the air in them?

I have a iCarsoft MB V2..since having the car repaired I'm wary of looking at the suspension on the reader since it had be calibrated using star.

Maybe I'm over thinking now the kids are finally in bed! I've spent the day fettling the garden opposed to my car lol

We all are until we come out one morning and it's sitting on it's **** and you can feel your wallet tighten up " belgrano time"

I wouldn’t be too concerned about strain. It’s designed for it. Personally, I would rather a bag let go being parked up, rather then when pressing the raise button out on my travels. I’ve experienced this first hand, it’s stressful when you’ve got to get hone at 10pm with 120 miles to go.

Using the airmatic allows the manifold to full open and close, allo a bags to fully inflate and allow the rubber to stretch.

As far as I know, the airmatic level system does not work when the car is locked. From experience, when it’s unlocked/door opened, it comes alive (I had a leak issue which seemed to lift when the door was opened). There is no lock out. If it had a leak, it will drop.

Hope that’s of some help. Don’t be afraid to use it. Use all the settings and enjoy this brilliant system.

I'm not sure why the pressure would be higher with the car in the raised position. There's more air in the bags obviously, but the pressure is the same. Even at minimum height the bags are taking the weight of the car. That doesn't change with more air in the bags.

Thanks Vick, I've been googling.. i do know if it is sitting low on a corner there is a leak or a knackered strut.. the previous owner had 4 new air struts fitted along with a inlet manifold and turbo charger plus £545 for a CD changer cartridge! (2 years ago) she even putb4 premium tyres 2 weeks before she PX'd it.

She had the car 8 years additional work invoices bar servicing for 9k! Thats why i purchased the car. She now drives a Tesla so throwing money at a old car wasn't a problem.. may be she got bored!

I'm going to enjoy the car... I have in the past bubble wrapped cars spent fortunes i have a slight ocd with my cars ... you really don't get anymore back come sale time I've learnt that several times now!

Even being a old car I have a soft spot for the later facelift unpopular W220 hence I'll keep her tip top.

These cars aren't worth much but I love driving it. There is always the option of going newer but in all honesty I'm not taken with MB latest offerings unless I could afford some thing like a AMG GT or the like. Best sell the house and live in the car and head to month Carlo and blow the rest!

Apologies for my digress!
