Dad has got a Toyota (sorrry-not MB:eek: ) and can't stand the naff velour seats! Does anyone know of a good place to get the seats retrimmed in leather in or around London/Surrey? Any idea of cost? It would be for an Avensis for all the seats and four door cars? Thanks in advance.

how much for an estate (just planning ahead for the new member of the family - MAYBE)?

Would I be able to come and see your vehicles one day to get an idea whats really possible?

no worries, you are welcome... but you will have to give me some notice as both the SEC and SL are deep under cover this time of year.....

if its not a seven seater then the same as a saloon...

Hi, This is who I use for any trimming, and have found them to be very good.

seems like that is second hand though?

Eh ? I thought the listing was quite clear. They come and fit new leather interiors and take away your old one to be retrimed for the next customer.

"We will aim to give you a clean trim with virtually no, or very minimum marks or damage we expect the same in return if possible."

They are obviously taking out trim, refurbing it somehow then selling it on... There is no way they could retrim with new leather at that price... The cost of the leather would be more than that, not to mention the labour involved in making up the templates and actually manufacturing the pieces...

Sounds like that could be true, they say "as new" not new. A somewhat disingenuous use of English I feel in the use of trim and retrim as the photo shows a BMW that has been retrimed !
Can't see where their profit is coming from though as their prices a similar to breakers.
I used to buy leather from the Wingrove tannery for leather jackets. There is an enormous difference in price between a high quality top grain aniline finished hide and cheap Eastern European stuff that the likes of DFS use.In general automotive leather is at the cheaper end of the scale being splits with embossed grain

What happens to my old interior?

We operate on an exchange basis only unless otherwise stated and will take your cloth trim in exchange for the leather trim. We will not pay you for your trim

Don't know how they operate, but they're taking cloth trims for leather, and only charging £350!

Seems a crazy deal?

My A class consumed three full hides of genuine MB anthracite leather. The existing covering was removed unstitched and used as the patterns for the leather. Each piece was then meticulously stitched together and the seat re-assembled. This is how it is done properly. It costs more than £300 in hide alone!

There appears to be an influx of leather seat covering kits from the far east. These use very cheap and thin hides that simply slip on, sometimes over the existing covers:eek: You get what you pay for;) These covers look cheap and dont fit properly.

If anyone can do a full re-trim for as little as £300 then they are either stealing the leather or cutting corners somewhere. Perhaps they are simply cleaning up old leather seats? I'd like to see one of their re-trims, 12 months down the line................

Alfies post reminds me of when I came back from one of my many honeymoons.

A lady had this suit made in white leather, she put the jacket on in the plane, and when she sat down the button holes tore away and that was the end of it, it was Camel skin,it feels so nice, smells good, but useless for anything other than decor

I've emailed the seller to see what the deal is..

They have replied with a price of £750 (iirc, not got access to the email at the mo, could've been £650) for an E-class saloon in anthracite with perforated centre sections and door cards done.
