#2 personally. then its easy to dial and see whos calling.

you dont need said bracket - get a bit of steel and make your own if i were you...

well rewiring to the speakers isnt as easy as it seems. To do it properly you need diodes so that you dont have radio and phone at once. And you need to go through an amp.
I would just put it on the bracket, more convenient and less fumbling when you need to get to the phone.

couldnt i just wire to the speakers and turn down the radio when the phone is in use? without an amp would the telephone to speakers be too quiet?

If you have (or are prepared to get) an Ericsson with Bluetooth, then I can vouch for the Ericsson Bluetooth Car Kit. This will allow you to mount your phone in your pocket or in your briefcase.

I installed it and used it in my last car, then moved it to my 202 where I presently use it. Its an easy DIY job.

You get sound though the front speakers, auto-mute, voice control, verbal caller ID, auto-answer, etc

Top kit. About £150.

would get something like that but dont want to spend too much - dont use the phone that much to warrent it. i want a holder mainly to charge the phone really but like it on a holder that is hands free too.

i am thinking that i could connect the holder's speaker output to the aux in connections on my comand.... then the phone conversation can be amplified thru comand if in aux mode. could this be done?

This ain't general discussion, this sounds like electronics talk to me! Moving...

dont think thats available on the CLK.... bracket shape defines where it has to be mounted i think (going on my last one for another car).

The only problem with mounting the phone on that vent is that when you have the windows down, its very easy for someone to swipe your phone when you are stationary.

you dont need an eriksson phone to use the eriksson bluetooth doofer - by default its a standers - like usb...

Not totally true about the Ericsson bluetooth (or any bluetooth carkit for that matter).

Whilst I agree with your statement in principal, in practice Ericsson and the other manufacturers put a small piece of propriatory software in their phones that is recognised by the same manufacturers carkit.

In essense, all bluetooth phones will work with all bluetooth carkits however, you only get the best solution when the manufacturers match.

Went through massive testing for Orange of the Bluetooth kits in my CLK and although all handsets work, only the Ericsson works properly!

Bit sly but you can see why they do it

I have a MB phone 'console section' for sale if you are interested. It is specifically for the CLK, and is in orion grey. It mounts to the passenger side of the centre console, and has an inbuilt speaker. It makes for a professional looking installation. The dealer price is £120 approx. You can have it for £40.
PM me if you are interested, I can send pics.
