Seems everyone's getting them nowadays. It would be useful to have some user recommendations - which dashcam and why?

I have the E-prance 801 Mini. Cracking camera. Full 1080. Small enough to sit behind my rear view mirror. Fantastic footage. Had it 6 months and can't fault it.
About £60 on Amazon

So sitting in your garage in the middle of the floor is your Transcend camera - but the rest of the car is missing?

I sometimes hold it and make car noises lol.

Ive just(today) sold my honda crv and im trying to find a e280 or e320 estate to swap 9k for :-)

This is the model I'm leaning toward. Just need to find someone who can permanently wire it in when the time comes.

Thanks for your advice.

I'd seen similar on eBay for less money - until I looked closely at the specifications. They were 720p, not 1080. They didn't have GPS logging.

I've taken your recommendation and ordered one from Amazon.

Techmoan (who's become something of a well thought of reviewer) stopped recommending E Prance mini series after complaints about reliability.

Techmoan - Techmoan

I'm not suggesting they are no good (I don't have one and I really like the style) but I believe the quality can be variable.

Auto Express reviewed a number of dashcams recently and the article is now available online.

I want 1080p front and rear, but the choice is limited at the mo.

The problem was there was a huge amount of dodgy ones being sold as original but this issue has been sorted now. If you read the Amazon reviews all the bad ones are from people that purchased the fakes. I was dubious at first but I am more than happy with mine.

Only order directly from Eprance or orders fulfilled by Amazon. It's the ones that were coming from China that were unreliable / complete crap / fake

I originally wanted to hardwire mine but in the end I just tucked the cable under the head liner then under the overlapping rubber strip on the A pillar, under the glovebox and into the cigarette lighter.

If you have an extra 12v socket in your glovebox then that would be even better for a completely hidden installation. If you do have one in your glovebox just check that it is wired live from the ignition like the cigarette lighter otherwise it will be on permenantly.

Nextbase 402 G, very good.

I don't know, John.
Daytime is excellent.
I'm taxi driver for three young ladies tonight so I'll post something on youtube tomorrow.

As for the other performance it now takes all night to do what I used to do all night! ;)

The 0803 is the newer version, i thought all the 0801's were now gone. I have this camera wuth a 32gb sd card, it works great, but still has a few bugs.

I have this Newest B40 PRO Capacitor Version A118C Novatek 96650 HD 1080P Car Dash CameraDVR | eBay

In the clk. small form factor and very discreet. Picture quality is excellent and easy to fit.
£56 from Amazon, next day delivery, includes an 8gb micro sd and a micro sd to usb adapter.
I like it.

I have this dashcam. The form factor works really well and the camera has proved to be reliable. My only criticism is the the night viewing is below average but passable.

Supplying an 8gb sd card is laughable, you need 32gb so that you have a few hours of video stored especially if the resolution is 1080p.

Front dashcam: BlackVue DR400G-II (modified and running custom firmware, so cool and hi-res, with selectable bitrate); rear dashcam: Mini-0801, with custom magnetic mount ¼ the size of a standard one. Certainly not the latest models, particularly 400-II  at 3yr old, but excellent quality, and never any trouble. If I were to buy a new set today, I'd go for OBD dual cam system.
