Which Dashcam?

Does anyone have an opinion on the Blackvue DR 650 2CH?

I would recommend one it comes with the rear camera :thumb: Once fitted and set up you can just forget it's there. plus you can download footage to your phone or ipad without removal of the sd card. You will find more info on youtube.

My Dashcam

I have a HP F500g that is very small from Amazon and can easily be tucked behind the rearview mirror.
Comes with gps and software for your PC for actual location tracing after any incident.:thumb:

I've always held the opinion that dashcam's have the potential to support the prosecution of the driver of the vehicle with the camera fitted, and therefore should be treated with caution by anyone who is inclined to "make progress" whether or not the GPS speed recording feature is used. This case: Man drove on North Wales roads in Ariel Atom sports car at speeds of more than 100mph where the driver was daft enough to post the incriminating evidence on YouTube and has received a nine-month suspended prison sentence as a result would appear to support my opinion.

I suspect that he was actually using a GoPro or similar camera and not a dashcam, but the same principles apply: film yourself engaging in naughtiness on the public road and the footage could well be used to support a prosecution.

On a lighter note, the irony of the driver's profession "senior health and safety manager" did raise a smile :D

So the K1S states that it can be connected to an existing In Car Display - would that include COMAND NTG 4.5?

Anyone fitted a K1S in a 2015 c class estate?
Can it easily be set up to show on the command screen?
How did you hide the wires.
Cheers Eddie

does anyone use a dashcam which records when your car is parked, 95% of the damage to my car is done in the car park by others, really annoying as nobody fesses up about these things but just drive off.

Most of them are wired to switch off when the ignition is off aren't they?

Must be taking current from the battery when the engine isn't running.

I'd like to know if they is such a camera as well.

You would also need cameras to cover front rear and both sides if you want to capture all events.

Most of those that don't record all the time, which are then limited by memory, are triggered by the bump and can miss anything useful by the time they start recording and as others have said you really need side cams for car park bumps.

My GoPro is on continuous loop recording : I just picked up the power supply to the illuminated sun visor which is on all the time , battery drain has not been a problem .

Transcend DrivePro 200 for the CLS and E-PRANCE G1W for the B class.

I wish that manufacturers would put a USB socket near to the rear view mirror so that these devices could be powered locally, rather than run a cable along the roof lining, down the door seal, under the carpet, then to an accessory socket. In fact, also put a USB socket near the rear window as well.

MB have the foresight to provide rear passengers with in car wifi,
USB in the back seats might have been a logical conclusion.
