Car
(W216) 2008 CL 500, Tanzanite blue with tan leather. (W230) 2005 SL350, Black with sand leather
I'm looking to buy steel wheels and winter tyres for my 05 (W219) CLS500 but it is not listed, so which E class should I specify instead?

Thanks guys, Colin.

Ok they don't have a w211 E500 listed.
Nearest is;

E350
W211 3498cc 200kw 2003-2009

What do you think?

Car manufacturer:Mercedes Benz[change]Car model:E 350 [change]211 3498ccm 200 kW BJ.: 05.2003-03.2009 [change

For this they recommend a 225/55/r16 95v Steel wheel with snow tyre package.

Make sure the 16" wheels will fit over the brake calipers.

CLS wheels have quite different offsets to E class 211 ones

Ok, I'll try a different tack

I've got the original 18" 5 spoke alloys from it, 275/35/18 on the back, 245/40/18 on the front.

These sizes are getting hard to find (especially the back size), so how much thinner can I go on both rims for winter tyres?

Can I change the 35/40 back/front profile for a 40 all round?

Thanks again guys, Colin.

As above, the CLS has a completely different offset to the E Class. The CLS has a much wider track.

The only way you will avoid coming unstuck with this is to take the car's handbook with you and show the wheel/tyre people the specification for the wheels. It doesn't matter what the wheel is made of (alloy, steel, wood, Play Doh), but it must conform to the spec provided.
